John Legend Takes Us To 'The Beginning'

There has been a lot of talk about Justin Timberlake's comeback and the soul he brings to popular music. That's cool, but my tastes lie with John Legend, who is right on time with "The Beginning," the first new music we get to hear off of his upcoming album, Love In The Future, due out later this year. Legend lends his truly unique vocals to a slower jam that sounds sadder than the lyrics lead on. As with many of Legend's songs there is a sense of romance and luxury that is attainable. Instead of name-checking expensive brands and what he can buy, Legend speaks about commitment, fidelity and a future, which are messages I wish I heard more. I am certain that many prefer to hear about the latter than the former. I am not sure if Legend is expecting this song to carry the fire that a first single usually does, but it is comforting to know that he will not be coming out of his bag demanding that others bow down. Either way, I am definitely looking forward to seeing Legend bring his patented style back to the forefront.
