Prince has been making quite the musical blitz as of late, flooding the Internet and even TV screens with new music and live performances of old hits. After his appearance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon at the beginning of this month -- during which he destroyed the stage and Captain Kirk's guitar -- I was reminded of how much I enjoy just seeing Prince rock out. As if he sensed this, His Purpleness has released a new video titled "Plectrum Electrum" that features him and his backup band 3RDEYEGIRL just jamming, no singing or lyrics required. It's not exactly clear what "Plectrum Electrum" is (the title of the instrumental? the title of the short film? the magic words to activate his undeniable swagger?), but whatever it is, it sure is funky. Perhaps the lucky folks who happen to catch his show at SXSW this Saturday will get a chance to find out exactly what it means.
