Shafiq Husayn & J.Mitchell Bring Many Styles To Life On 'Reincarnation'

What's the point of being a music aficionado or enthusiast if you do not allow your views or tastes to be stretched? GRAMMY Award winner and genre buster Shafiq Husayn is back to help us do just that with "Reincarnation" featuring J.Mitchell from his upcoming album The LooP. This track is a mélange of creative sounds and beats that, at some points, seem perplexing. From first listen, I knew that it would take some time for me to start feeling the vibe. Husayn takes a fourth each of Parliament, Erykah Badu, Alice Coltrane and Outkast and comes up with a track that is easy to listen to, but more difficult to comprehend. A person can try to gather the essence of the track through repeat listens, but at 2:33 there seems to not be a lot there to digest. I can see this piece being a part of a larger project/effort or a nice interlude, but "Reincarnation" seems to be incomplete on its own. There is definitely potential here, but I need a few more pieces to the puzzle to see the whole picture.
