There Is No 'Negotiation,' The Gene Dudley Group Is The Real Deal

If you're a fan of the output from labels such as Daptone and Truth & Soul, or you enjoy the rapturous sounds of outfits such as the Hot 8 Brass Band, then you are in for a treat when you press play on the debut single from the new Wah Wah 45s signing, The Gene Dudley Group. First things first, The Gene Dudley Group is not, in fact, a group. It is all the work of 27-year-old, London-based multi-instrumentalist Gene Dudley who, over the course of the two-track release, plays trumpet, saxophone, drums, bass, guitar and piano. Nobody would be surprised if they were told that "The Fawcett Negotiation" and "The New Lots Of Cooperstown" were instrumentals ripped from some long-lost, early '70's soul classics, featuring a full complement of in-studio musicians, but they are indeed the work of one man. Give them a spin, then head on over to Bandcamp where you can pick up a digital copy, on a "name your own price" basis, or a special edition 7" vinyl copy.
