One of my absolute favorite songs from 2012 ended up being "Latch" by production outfit Disclosure featuring Sam Smith on vocals. This song had me enamored from first listen because it not only sounded good with its funky two-stepable groove, but the lyrical content had me open like a 24-hour bodega. Sam Smith sang about the kinda love thang that has you so wrapped up in another that you don't want to ever let go. The song hasn't left heavy rotation on my iTunes, but now I've fallen in love with it all over again thanks to this acoustic performance by Smith that has lifted me up and broken me down at the same damn time. Smith's voice is strong and pristine accompanied only by a piano and an upright bass in a performance that is beyond words beautiful. But it's his delivery full of vocal flourishes that punctuate the lyrics that has me all up in and through my feelings. I can't get enough of this, and if you're in love with the idea of having a love like this like I am, then I suspect you won't either.
