Does Justin Timberlake 'Take Back The Night' Or Put You To Sleep?

Today is the day that Robin Thicke releases his sixth album, Blurred Lines, but Justin Timberlake wagged his finger chiding, "Uh, uh, not so fast Robbie Boy, I'm the Mary and you're the Rhoda," and has dropped the visual for shimmering dance single "Take Back The Night" in prep for the second installment of The 20/20 Experience (out September 30th). As much as I defended 20/20 during our discussion showdown a while back, I can't defend the thrown together messes the videos for the project have been. For "Take Back The Night" we bear witness to a cute kid dancing out in the street when it's obviously way past his bedtime. Then we're courted with flashes of concert footage and gyration and libation in a strobe light filled club. As a topper, Timberlake strolls through the kitchen of a Chinese restaurant, slapping fives and patting backs. It's all so groundbreaking. *yawn* My guess that Timberlake cobbled together this dizzying cliché riddled display is to yield to the recent controversy that has surrounded the song, as it shares the namesake of a well-established campaign that fights against violence towards women. Whoops. So who wins this round? Team Timberlake? Team Thicke? Or Team Ice Cream? I'm going for ice cream because ice cream never disappoints me, but you decide as the Thicke vs. Timberlake saga continues below.
