Janelle Monáe Gets Her 'Dance Apocalyptic' On With David Letterman

If last week belonged to Tamar Braxton's media blitz surrounding the release of her new album, then this week it's all about Janelle Monáe. Last night Janelle celebrated today's release of her stellar new project The Electric Lady with a star-studded release concert in New York City that found her being praised by both Big Boi who discovered her and Diddy who gave her a bigger platform and performing an amazing show for those lucky souls in attendance. The rest of us had to settle for seeing her perform on The Late Show with David Letterman, but it sure didn't feel like second best as Ms. Monáe clocked in a-rocking and a-rolling, high-energy performance of "Dance Apocalyptic." Losing her tuxedo uniform and opting for an all-white ensemble accented by black suspenders and riding boots, Janelle owned the stage and made herself quite at home dancing and singing all over it -- even hopping on David Letterman's desk at one point seemingly possessed by the spirit of James Brown and channeling Prince. She put on a hell of a four-minute show that led Dave to call her "the hardest working woman in show business." After watching Janelle in action you'll be inclined to agree.
