Diggs Duke Signs To Brownswood & Gives Us A Few 'Words'

It's no secret that we here at SoulBounce love ourselves some of Diggs Duke. Hell, we even inducted the singer/songwriter/producer/arranger/all-around instrumentalist into our Bounce-Worthy fold back in 2011. So today's announcement that the musical renaissance man has signed to Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings (which is also home to Zara McFarlane, another Bounce-Worthy alum -- noticing a pattern here?) has caused us great joy. To celebrate the occasion, Brownswood has posted Digg's "Harsh Words With The Oracle" to their SoundCloud page. The previously released soulful, jazzy cut finds Diggs doing what he does best, crafting a unique sound that throws back to the sounds of yesteryear while keeping a full grasp on the present. "Diggs Duke takes an avant-garde beatmaker's approach to making soul music... where Frank Ocean meets Madlib and iconic pianist Andrew Hill. It's straight-to-the-point, drunken soul with a twist," Peterson says of Diggs on the Brownswood blog, and we're sure that you'll agree. We extend our most heartfelt congratulations to Diggs on this milestone and look forward to his Brownswood debut, which is scheduled for December of this year. In the meantime, check out what we've been telling you all along that Diggs can do by listening to "Harsh Words With The Oracle" below.
