Faith Evans' Daughter Tahjeré Claims Her 'Throne'

Tahjeré may be the daughter of an R&B diva, but she's ready for the world to know so much more about her. Faith Evans' oldest offspring released her second mixtape this week, and it's appropriately titled The Heiress. With family friends Magoo and Queen Latifah joining in and supporting her effort, Tahjeré is boldly bursting on to the scene and showcasing her skills as a singer, songwriter, producer and emcee. Heavily influenced by the work of Missy Elliott, Brandy and The Neptunes, The Heiress flows through a host of sounds and lyrics that tell the story of who this blossoming young lady is becoming.

One of the strongest moments of this release comes along when Ceejay, son of fallen hip-hop legend Notorious B.I.G. and Evans, joins his big sister for a braggadocios anthem "The Throne," in which they claim what rightfully belongs to them. These kids are hip-hop and R&B royalty, and I'm glad to hear them cultivating their gifts, while also flexing just a tad bit. "The Throne," produced by Lady Trauma, also features Jahad and a sample of Kanye West's 2006 hit "Touch The Sky." Download Tahjeré's The Heiress mixtape for free via Audiomack now.
