There is one word to describe Sofia Rubina's song "Shine the Light": FUNKY. And yes, all caps are necessary. Since we pride ourselves at SB for being a little bit more elaborate toward the music we love to share with everyone, I'll extend on the word to say that this Estonian native just gets into a fit of funk with energy that refuses to subside -- and it's well worth your time. Off of her latest album Dreams of Tomorrow, the Opolopo-produced track merges future soul with acid jazz seamlessly. Adding to that is the icing of Rubina vocally charging through and throwing in a little traditional scatting just to make things even more fun. If you can't get enough of this funky stuff, there is more synth funk 'n' jazz to be had as Dreams of Tomorrow is available at Rubina's Bandcamp spot and is well worth a spin.
