Look For A New Neneh Cherry Album In 2014

Never one to settle for the ordinary, Neneh Cherry is one of music's most eclectic beings. We can look no further than her pioneering pop-meets-hip-hop formula that was first introduced by her classic 1989 Raw Like Sushi album for proof of her ability to flit back and forth among the genres. She woke up out of music dormancy last year as she teamed up with Scandinavian free jazz trio The Thing to release the acquired taste test of A Cherry Thing, with its abstract single "Dream Baby Dream" at the helm. The collaboration must have put a little kick in the creative juices, as Cherry recently announced that she is releasing a brand new album as early as next year. Her first solo project since 1996's Man, the as-yet-untitled project was recorded within a five-day period and will feature production from producer/remixer Four Tet and possess a guest appearance from fellow Swede Robyn -- which is something yours truly is highly interested in. With the details still under wraps what can come from this project is anyone's guess, but then again, this is Neneh Cherry we're talking about, and we should just sit back and look forward to the assorted bag of tunes we'll soon be digging in.
