Is It 'True Love' For Lydia Rene?

It was almost a year ago that we last heard from Bounce-Worthy alumna Lydia Rene with her song "Only In Time," and she's back to put those quality vocals to good use with her new song "True Love." From an EP that's expected early in 2014, this opens with that rarest of soul stylings -- wailing electric guitar. It's such a delight to hear the guitar take center stage as she tells a story of a relationship steeped in inequality. The difference between wanting and needing is the focal point, and it's clear the relationship won't be surviving. With echoes of Jill Scott in her lower register, it's a great showcase for her strong vocals and as the instruments fade away at the finale, the true strength of her voice is revealed. Lydia Rene is a belter, and we can't wait for more of the same. This is no flirtation, this is "True Love."
