Lauryn Hill is back on the big screen, but this time as a narrator. Hill takes a page from Morgan Freeman’s book and lends her signature voice in Göran Hugo Olsson’s new film Concerning Violence. Known for her conscious persona, minus the prison time, Hill narrates the highs and lows of the struggle for African liberation from colonial rule. This visual narrative, which is set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival, pieces together newly discovered archive material from the African Liberation movements. Just in case you were wondering, Hill’s narrative comes from Frantz Fanon’s 1960 book The Wretched of the Earth. The trailer doesn’t give away too much but just enough to know that this movie has some heavy content. Will you watch and listen to Concerning Violence? Check out the trailer to help you make your decision.
