The power of Beyoncé knows no bounds or borders as the songstress found her way to yesterday's BRIT Awards. Held at the jam-packed O2 Arena in London, it was easily one of the most anticipated performances of the evening as Beyoncé sang “XO” live for the first time on television. And then she performed. Unlike her stunning sequinned emerald dress, Yoncé’s performance was rather dull. Of course, her vocals sounded impeccable as always, and she kept her gold tresses in place as she belted out the fan-dedicated song, but we just weren’t impressed.
Honestly, Beyoncé should know better by now. There are the diehard fans (hi, Beyhive) who faint at every move she makes, but then there’s the rest of us. We expect fireworks (and not just on the screen), surprise music breakdowns and the unique choreography she’s known for. Although our high ‘Bey-expectations’ weren’t met, we will give it up to her and her beautiful light show as there are only a handful of performers who can stand alone on a stage and just sing.
