When Frank Ocean isn't busy telling quasi-Mexican restaurants how he really feels, he manages to work in some studio time. While his beef with the Chipotle restaurant chain has landed him in the news recently, a new song featuring the enigmatic crooner was released this week. Joined by producer Diplo and The Clash's Mick Jones and Paul Simonon, Ocean lends his vocals to "Hero," released as the ninth installment of Converse's "Three Artists. One Song" series. The series is known for reaching across genres to bring together artists to collaborate on one song (past alum include Andre 3000, Kid Cudi, Pharrell and Santigold). "Hero" was one of five tracks that Diplo recorded with Jones and Simonon in London before handing the reigns over to Ocean, who added his vocals and picked the song's title. The result is a perfect melding of doo-wop and rock sensibilities brought together by Ocean's signature introspective lyrics and contemplative performance. The West Los Angeles Children's Choir comes in towards the end, casting a shadow of innocence on the song's otherwise lite rock vibe.
