British songstress Marsha Ambrosius released a number of seductive freebies for us this weekend, put a big red bow around it and called it FVCK&LOVE. Because that’s exactly what it’s about. Due to its heavy sexual content, Ambrosius tweeted a disclaimer to her fans stating, “Don't come at me all crazy 9 Months from now!!!" While we await those classic sonogram posts on social media, Ambrosius is readying her second solo release, Friends and Lovers, but before that we get to FVCK&LOVE first.  Writers and producers such as Stacy Barthe, Da Internz, Pop Wansel and Oak massaged the singles and Ambrosius sang them into submission for a steamy six-track EP we expeditiously stamped NSFW (Not Safe For Work).

Ambrosius starts things off with “So Good,” a sweet R&B track that talks about making love. Produced by Da Internz, this song also has Stacy Barthe all over it, who serves as co-writer. “Looking at me the way that you do, you want me too, and I don’t want to waste no time,” sings Ambrosius, and she doesn’t. In the chorus she talks about how good her significant other’s love is. Featuring a mean electric guitar, which basically takes the song to a climax, “So Good” sets you up perfectly for the rest of the EP.

Almost like an updated version of Janet Jackson’s “Anytime, Any Place,” Marsha croons on the delicate single “Take It.” With a dripping tap serving as the track’s beat, Ambrosius melds fvck and love on this one. The harmonious chorus adds the power of persuasion to whoever is on the receiving end of the message, and then it leaves them on their toes.

At this point of FVCK&LOVE, the loving is just getting started and is about to transition to the other part. “Seduction Interlude” gives you a subtle notice that you just got done with the appetizers and Marsha has cooked up some more adult fun.

You might as well start stretching so you can execute your best body roll to “Come.” Ambrosius goes all the way and tells you exactly how her significant other got here there. Communication is key in any sexual relationship, which judging by this track, proves that Ambrosius likely has no issues getting hers. Burn your favorite scented candle, dim the lights and listen your way to some appropriately timed inappropriate behavior.

And then comes “69.” Reciprocity makes for great karma and good songs, too. “Get a taste of my flavor, I’ll return the favor,” sings Ambrosius. She decides to perform for us on this track, in more ways than one. A juxtaposition of emotions, the song presents an innocent side of R&B while the lyrics bring out everything naughty. True to naughty R&B sex odes, “there ain’t nothing wrong…” in this case with a little 69.

“Friends and Lovers” is a simple declaration that it’s all or nothing. Lamenting the in-between, on-and-off again stages of a relationship, Ambrosius sings sweetly asking her significant other to make a decision. The title of her upcoming second album and last song of the EP, “Friends and Lovers” is the perfect melodic end to what we can only anticipate will be a great beginning for her sophomore release.
