Alice Russell & Darondo Have A 'Breakdown' For 'Mad Men'

Back in 2012 we came across "Breakdown," a new track from British soulstress Alice Russell that was featured on the Magic Mike soundtrack. The track was classic Alice, drenched in soul with a heap of funk thrown in for good measure, and featured a surprise (if uncredited at the time) appearance from Darondo. Fast forward to last year and Alice's hotly anticipated album, To Dust, finally saw the light of day and "Breakdown" was featured, albeit in a slightly reworked/rnamed form, as "Let It Go (Breakdown)," but sadly the Darondo feature was missing.

Now, just over 12 months on from the album's release, the original Darondo-featuring version of the track has been picked up by hit US television show Mad Men as the soundtrack to the trailers for their highly anticipated seventh season. Due to the track gaining a great deal of renewed interest the song has been fast-tracked as a digital single release and a six-track EP, which features both takes along with their respective instrumental and a cappella versions. It's great to see Alice finally getting the mainstream shine she so rightly deserves and here's hoping that this is just the start. You can stream the official track and peep the Mad Men trailer right here, right now.
