Those Glee fans still out there who still watch the show are well aware that Amber Riley's character Mercedes has been written back into the plot after taking a little post-graduation break and moving to NYC. That's great that Amber is back on the Glee block, but let's hope that her schedule still allows the singer to work on her debut album, which she gave viewers of The Queen Latifah Show a taste of this afternoon.

Backed by only a piano, Riley premiered the ballad "Colorblind" to Queen Latifah's attentive audience and flexed her vocal chops on the poignant song. On "Colorblind," Amber sings that all of the color is gone from her life as she laments a lost love. If you've loved and lost, then it's a sentiment that you can relate to, but the song is a bit of a downer. It's no wonder with Emeli Sandé one of the songwriters alongside Claude Kelly. Emeli and Claude sure know how to tug at the heartstrings, so have a box of tissues nearby just in case.

There's still no word on when Riley's debut album is coming, but "Colorblind" hits iTunes on April 8th. Let's hope that whatever other music Amber Riley is working on that it has a little more pep and turn our frowns upside down.
