Janelle Monáe Receives Two Honors From Harvard

Janelle Monáe gained more accolades for her purpose driven artistry and advocacy after receiving two distinct awards from Harvard College at Harvard University. Earlier this week, the Women's Center at Harvard College honored Ms. Monáe with the inaugural Women's Center Award for Achievement in Arts and Media. The purpose of the award is to highlight an artist or performer who uses their artistic platform to challenge questions of identity, including race, gender and sexuality. "Throughout her career," says Harvard College Women's Center, "Janelle Monáe has highlighted the important women in her life and inspired countless others to achieve excellence."

In addition, the incomparable Electric Lady No. 1 was also recognized as the 2014 Woman of the Year by the Black Men's Forum, pictured with Janelle above, at Harvard College for being a phenomenal trailblazer for future generations of young women. Congratulations to Janelle for these well-deserved awards!
