With Mother's Day fast approaching on Sunday, mothers are kinda having the best week ever. From Oklahoma City Thunder player Kevin Durant's powerful NBA MVP speech where he honored his mother with a moving tribute that didn't leave a dry eye in the house to K. Michelle now releasing the music video for her song "A Mother's Prayer," this week could be considered Mother's Week and rightly so. If anyone deserves more than one day of props it's all the good mothers out there who take care of their children and their business.
The visuals for "A Mother's Prayer," which can be found on Michelle's debut album Rebellious Soul, feature a young single mother and her elementary school age son. We see her working hard for the money in a diner then tending to her son and studying before her day is done. The video flashes forward nine years and the son, named Chase after K. Michelle's own baby boy who this song is dedicated to, is now 18 and going off to college. As he packs up his boxes and drives off with his father, the mother returns to the house to find a card that he's left behind with loving words and a photo of them together. At this point, cue the tears -- the main character's and probably some of your own, too, as you watch.
