It's hard to believe that it's been 20 years since singer Brandy first burst onto the scene with her debut single, "I Wanna Be Down." Although she's since gone on to become a chart-topping platinum selling artist, actress and entrepreneur, "I Wanna Be Down" has remained one of her most recognized singles. So it comes as no surprise that an artist would want to pay homage to the '90s anthem and singer Kenyon Dixon is no different. The GRAMMY nominated singer-songwriter took the classic song into his own hands and made it brand new. His updated version strips away some of the '90s sensibilities that were popular then and transforms into a sparse, electro-influenced cover. As crazy as it sounds, it actually works. The song is one of many to expect from Dixon this year. In the meantime, if you like what you hear then be sure to check out his third EP, Higher Ground, which was released last year.
