PANES Are 'Bones Without You'

Yes, yes, we know, there are dozens upon dozens of singer-producer duos coming out of the UK. So what makes PANES so special? Well, maybe because one-half of PANES, Tyson McVey, is Neneh Cherry's daughter, so yeah there is that, but really McVey and her partner in crime, instrumentalist Shaun Savage, have tapped onto nocturnal future soul with a nuanced hand. Their debut self-titled EP is a fresh-squeezed astral affair that blurs the edges of soul, pop and rock without flinch. Their main attraction, debut single "Bones Without You," shimmers and shines a light through the EP's remaining dark moods "Dust Becomes," "Choice Errors" and the snare-heavy "Stills." Sure this isn't something you'll want to spin to turn up to on a Friday night, but if you want to simmer down and peel off your weekend warrior armor for just a spell, then let PANES rain a quiet storm over you with their arresting introduction.
