Brandy Tries Her Hand At Coldplay's 'Magic'

Coldplay's "Magic," the lead single from the soft rock group's latest album, Ghost Stories, is quickly becoming a cover favorite for R&B singers.  We've already heard what Brit up-and-comer MNEK can do with the track, offering a stripped-down cover of the tune that was filled an earnest soulfulness. And now we have the "vocal bible" herself, Brandy, trying her hand at the track.

A known fan of Coldplay (she's mentioned her love for the band several times and even sampled them for Afrodisiac's "Should I Go"), B-Rocka decides to keep close to the song's pop-rock roots with her take, using the track's original instrumental to aid her version. However, she injects a lot of soul into the song with her vocal, opting to sing much of the song in her breathy lower register before letting her voice soar a bit as the song progresses.

While I prefer MNEK's cover to this one, Brandy did her thing with this — I wouldn't even mind if she decided to include this on the upcoming album that she announced she was in the studio recording a few months back. Are you ready to see what kind of magic Brandy can deliver? If so, then press play and enjoy the show.
