For the ninth year in a row, a collective of legendary artists will get together in Washington, DC, to honor the late J Dilla. Last year, we saw the likes of Bilal, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Muhsinah, Maimouna Youssef and De La Soul pay homage to Dilla in a packed Howard Theatre. This year, the tribute and fundraiser returns with new acts. The Brand New Heavies’ N’Dea Davenport, hip-hop queen Bahamadia and A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg, who released “Dear Dilla” in early February, will commemorate the artist and producer who impacted many a career. You can purchase your tickets now on Eventbrite and, if you’re still not convinced, check out the video from last year’s show of De La Soul performing “Much More” and “Stakes Is High.”
