Luke James Gets Raw With 'Exit Wounds'

Luke James Exit Wounds Still

Crooner Luke James dropped a doozy of a breakup song with his latest single from his self-titled debut, the emotional "Exit Wounds." It's no surprise, then, that video for the track is similarly emotional. Taking cues from his previous videos, "Options" and "Dancing in the Dark," Luke goes extremely minimal for this clip, only featuring himself, a model, a piano and few other props.

Luke belts his heart out as we see glimpses of his ex-beloved scantily clad in bed before we build to the fiery chorus and see roses burst into flames as Luke's melancholy boils into anger. Eventually, tensions get so high that we see a shirtless (and sexy, if we might add) Luke take to the piano with a sledgehammer. As he demolishes the innocent instrument and scenes of he and his video lover are shown in between whacks, we get a sense of the turmoil that's brought to life in the song's bitter verses.

While not your typical mopey video about a painful breakup, there still seems to be something lacking from this clip. Perhaps this is one case where the simple approach isn't necessarily better. That being said, we'll still be buying Luke James when it arrives in stores.
