Back in July when I talked about Nick Hakim's beautifully crafted EP, Where Will We Go Pt. 1, I hoped that the title was indicative of either a follow-up EP or a full-length album. Well it looks like dreams do, sorta kinda, come true. The crooner, who is currently spreading his sound on stages across Europe, recently released the second part of the EP Where Will We Go Pt. 2 via his SoundCloud page. While I would certainly have preferred a complete album, I'm never mad at the chance to check music from this up-and-comer.
Just as its predecessor, Pt. 2 plays out as a languid stroll through the mind of Hakim. His smokey voice and blues-influenced melodies maintain a warmth that completely envelopes and rocks the listener into tranquility. Also just like the last album, some of the songs like "I Don't Know" had previously been posted to Hakim's SoundCloud page as singles though it is nice to have them all packaged into one place. Though it could be hard to pick out favorites out of such a short offering, "Sleep" and "Lift Me Up" are early standouts. Now that Hakim has provided the second part to the Where Will We Go EP series, my only hope now is that there will soon be a full-length album of new material on the way.
