This new television season is bringing many artists who we dig to our TV screens to promote their current and upcoming projects, and we couldn't be happier. Wednesday saw Smokey Robinson joining the ladies of The Talk to chat about his recent release, Smokey & Friends, and later in the program he performed one of the songs from the duets album. Of course with it being a duet, the green-eyed soulman needed a partner, and Ledisi was there to happily oblige.
Ledisi was radiant in a floral short set and serving chocolate legs on a platter, while Robinson looked dapper as always. The duo replicated their song from Smokey & Friends, The Miracles' 1965 hit "Ooh Baby Baby," down to Led's spoken intro. The songstress then kicked the song off with her strong, steady alto on the first verse under Smokey's intense gaze before the crooner joined her on the chorus and slipped into the second verse like a comfortable pair of shoes that he's been wearing for almost 50 years. Although the performance wasn't studio perfect, they still sounded pretty awesome together singing live and bringing this classic back to life before our eyes.
