It's been quite a few years since gospel star Smokie Norful released new music, but he is back with a new album full of unabashed praise and worship. Last month, the GRAMMY Award-winning singer released Forever Yours, which is considered his personal love letter to God. One of the album cuts, "I've Got What You Need," is an upbeat Motown-inspired track, which is fitting since Norful is signed to Motown Gospel.

With this new record, Smokie deviates from his traditional piano-driven gospel ballads and gives an R&B spin. On first listen, "I've Got What You Need" sounds like a smooth love song à la Marvin Gaye or Smokey Robinson. From the string orchestra to doo-wop background vocals, the song is equipped with all of the essentials of a classic soul cut from Motownl's golden era. However, the gospel crooner makes it his own as he testifies about God's unconditional love. Take a listen for yourself.

Forever Yours is out now on iTunes.
