Beautifully ‘Stripped,’ Szjerdene’s ‘Towers’ Is Another Standout

Our ears were recently blessed when Szjerdene revealed her Red Bull Studios Amsterdam recording of “Transits (Stripped),” an alternate spin on a track featured on Bonobo’s The North Borders. Apparently, she didn’t want to overwhelm us with her greatness, because she held back the second part of that acoustic recording session, “Towers (Stripped),” for an additional week.

Szjerdene recaptures her aural hold on us through the quiet beauty of her voice. While the original offers a melodic fusion of tranquil sounds, rhythmic synth and electronic staccatos, the chanteuse opts for understated accompaniment (once again by Yasmin Baker on keys) -- a stark musical contrast that still dazzles, nonetheless.
