Kimbra may have entered our hearts and playlists in 2012 with the Gotye duet “Somebody That I Used To Know,” but she made a successful attempt at solidifying her space this year with her sophomore album The Golden Echo. Filled with a smorgasbord of sounds and all-star collaborations, this album showed off Kimbra’s versatility and gift of being able to dabble in different musical realms yet piece it all together successfully. Whether we reminisced to “90s Music,” bopped to “Madhouse” and “Carolina,” or vibed out all alone to “Rescue Him,” we got our life from The Golden Echo. Kimbra brought the fun and the funk and that’s all that we needed to keep the party going this year. -- Rob
