One look at our archives will tell you that we've been longtime supporters of both Eric Lau and Tawiah, two of London's finest. The producer/DJ and songstress each have an impressive catalogue of solo offerings that remain on our playlists. So when the frequent collaborators announced a joint project, we knew it would be nothing short of amazing. The resulting EP, Love Call, was one of our early favorites in 2014. The title track showed how less is sometimes more with Lau keeping the fluid production relaxed, but tight and Tawiah conveying affection with just the right amount of coquettish overtones. Smoothly transitioning into bedroom territory, "Let's Begin" serves up slow-burning passion that segues into the groovy afterglow of "The Way We Are." The head nod-inducing "Favourite Truth" (feat. Kaidi Tathum on keys) and "Love Call (Reprise)" ended things on a high note blending Lau's signature hip-hop laced beats with Tawiah's melodic charm. We can only hope that this won't be the last joint effort from this incredible pairing. -- B. Cakes
