When we talked to Mali Music back in October, he was brewing with excitement about his upcoming role of Jesus in a new musical motion picture, Revival The Experience!. Well, now the trailer is out, and we get a glimpse of what we can expect. There are some heavy hitters starring alongside Mali like Chaka Khan, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Michelle Williams, Brely Evans, Obba Babatundé and Harry Lennix, who will personify the infamous Pontius Pilate. With this stellar cast on board, the musical tells the story of the gospel according to John the Apostle.
While we're excited that the GRAMMY-nominated singer will continue to anoint us with his voice, based on the trailer alone the movie could easily be a gift or a curse. The jury is still out on the quality of the production itself as the trailer gives us two different experiences. From what we can tell there are some stage play scenes mixed with other scenes that do, in fact, look like a major motion picture. We're scratching our heads a tad, but Mali did tell us it was going to be a great movie and we want to believe him. It looks like black Jesus and the rest of the cast will be gracing our screens in the spring so until then, watch Mali et al. in the Revival The Experience! trailer and let us know if you'll be watching.
