We're in "Really Love" with D'Angelo's live performances
The comeback story of the decade keeps being written. D'Angelo kicked off Black History Month by making a little history of his own with his first appearance on Saturday Night Live. Appearing on SNL shortly after midnight on February 1st, D'Angelo and his band of all-stars, The Vanguard, owned the stage. First appearing in a meme-worthy hat cocked to the side and a wrap perched perfectly around his shoulders, D launched into a perfect performance of Black Messiah's "Really Love" that left fans swooning between how good he sounded and his smoldering glances into the camera. Later, dressed in a black hoodie and leather, he returned to perform "Charade" with Vanguard members making a salient statement with their apparel and choreography.
This amazing showing on Saturday Night Live was just a preview of what live audiences would soon get to see for themselves on The Second Coming Tour, which kicked off at New York City's famed Apollo Theatre on February 7th before heading across the pond to Europe for a string of dates. D'Angelo and The Vanguard have left audiences from NYC to the UK and beyond bedazzled by the Black Messiah experience. -- Butta
