Lyfe Jennings Knows What 'Pretty Is'

It's a new year and new music for R&B singer Lyfe Jennings, and per usual, he's bringing both music and a message. His latest single is entitled "Pretty Is" and, rather than a sappy love ballad, it's a dedication to the women behind the flashing lights of the strip club. While there is many a song dedicated to the exotic dancers of the world, Lyfe takes a different approach and praises the spirits of these women rather than what they can do with their bodies.

"This is a song reminding [women] that it's ok to struggle if you're struggling with purpose and with dignity cause it's not what u do that makes u ugly, it's what u don't do that makes u pretty," Lyfe said on Facebook. "The visible is created by the invisible and the invisible is created by the indivisible."

He tells his tale over a mid-tempo, piano-tinged groove that's accentuated with a bit of bass bump (the song does concern the strip club, after all). "Pretty is what pretty does / You'll always be pretty because / You fall but get up / Pretty is what pretty does / You're still full of love," he reminds on the uplifting chorus, basically telling all those women doing what they have to do on the stage to keep their head up and their goals in mind.

"Pretty Is" is the first single lifted from Lyfe's as-yet-untitled new album, set to drop later this year. The single itself will be available on iTunes on February 24th and can be requested on radio right now. Take a listen to the track now.
