Jamie Foxx Has His Eye On A 'Pretty Young Thing'

Is Jamie Foxx making a return on wax or nah? That's the question on people's minds as more tracks leak from the actor/singer's direction. First was the DJ Mustard-produced "Party Ain't A Party." Then we got a continuation of the same theme with "Ain't My Fault." And it seems that Jamie still has the same thing on his mind with his latest leak, "Pretty Young Thing."

If you're wondering if this is a Michael Jackson cover, it is...kinda. Instead of directly covering MJ's 1982 classic, Jamie reinterprets it for the modern audience. In other words, he enlists DJ Mustard to drop a minimal beat as he interpolates the chorus of "P.Y.T." For the most part, it's not a bad attempt, especially when considering that this is probably meant to be a club banger. But it's nothing to write home about, either. Jamie, a capable singer, relies on Auto-Tune a little bit too much here. As well, the beat, with its the signature Mustard-isms of hand claps and repeated crowd chants, veers on being too minimal, not giving enough support to Jamie's vocal and making it a bit, well, boring.

Is Jamie cooking up another album? Only time (and possibly a single that eventually catches on) will tell. Until we have official confirmation, though, check out "Pretty Young Thing" below.
