After Kanye had emerged as the artist/producer of the moment, his work was in high demand. Everyone wanted a track from the “Overnight Celebrity” producer to ensure a hit album. Enter Brandy, the pop star who had grown up right before our eyes and was about to drop her fourth album. Brandy and Kanye shared an executive producer, Geroid Roberson, who convinced the singer to go back into the studio after completing an album full of songs produced by another well-known hitmaker, Timbaland. Unfortunately, “Talk About Our Love” was only a minor hit on the charts and the album, Afrodisiac, while acclaimed as one of Brandy’s best, ended up being one of her worst commercially.
