Notable Songs: “In Cold Blood,” “Guess Who’s Back,” “Heaven”

An OG in the game, Scarface released his seventh album, The Fix, in 2002, earning a rare 5 Mic rating from The Source (back when that sort of thing mattered) and cementing why Face was a legend in the game. Featuring a host of top name stars and producers, Kanye produced a number of tracks that stood out among all that talent. The biggest song was the posse cut “Guess Who’s Back,” featuring Beanie Sigel and Jay Z.

This was the first time Jay shouted out Kanye on a track and the first Kanye chorus. Kanye is barely recognizable on the chorus, his voice low and monotone, hiding the animated and emotional rhymer he would be on later tracks, almost like he was a little kid who somehow snuck out with his older cousins and wanted to make sure he didn’t get sent back to the house.
