The Bounce-Worthy Morgan James has been been touring Europe with Post Modern Jukebox for most of this year. So when she got back stateside, it must've been a joy to have her first performance be in her adopted home of New York City at the Highline Ballroom.
It was most certainly a joy to watch the soul singer perform her set, culled mostly from her sophomore album, Hunter. Starting with her breathtaking rendition of Prince's "Call My Name," Morgan and her band took the crowd through a beautiful journey with songs like "I Want You," "Bring Yourself to Me," "Heart Shake" and covers of Mariah Carey's "Fantasy" and D'Angelo's "Another Life." Even if someone had come to her show thinking that she was that girl from the "interwebs" who could sing like nobody's business, they left knowing that Morgan James is, without a doubt, the real deal.
