Brooklyn-based soul singer Candice Anitra is readying to release her double EP Narcissus/Echo next month. But before giving birth to what's sure to be a musical masterpiece, the singer performed a few selections from the collection for a small audience at Studio G in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood. The cozy, intimate studio setting was the perfect place to experience the ethereal Ms. Anitra, a natural performer who thrives off of audience energy.
She took the audience through a few of her own tracks, including "Woman," "Boy Crazy," "Feed the Lions" and our personal favorite "Objectify" as the audience, including her doting husband, soaked up the sensual performance. But she also surprised with a few covers, including one of Jhené Aiko's "Spotless Mind" that added even more depth to the the emotional track. When Candice does release the double EP on July 17th, you'll definitely want to be in line to pick it up, and while you're at it, pick up a ticket to her live show as well.
