Just in time for the scorching August temperatures in the DMV, the Summer Spirit Festival is back with some acts just as hot as previous years. On Saturday, August 8th, at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD, you'll find Erykah Badu, who has been a Summer Spirit Fest staple for many years, and for the 10th anniversary she's joined by some soul and R&B acts you don't want to miss. For the festival's 10th year, event producers CD Enterprises have scheduled SoulBounce fave Anthony Hamilton, Avery*Sunshine, Estelle, Phony Ppl and go-go crew Junk Yard Band. You already knew Marsha Ambrosius (The Songstress) and her girl Natalie Stewart (The Floacist) are finally back together as Floetry, and the DMV will finally get to witness their reunion on the SSF stage, too. As well, another group has reunited, Tony! Toni! Toné!, and they've been added to the good music-studded lineup.
Soul, R&B, hip hop, go-go and more can all be found at the Summer Spirit Festival along with arts and crafts, vendors, food and DJ sets. Tickets range from $48 to $125, depending on how close you want to be to all the action.
