Only six women can say that they had the pleasure of being a part of multi-platinum singing group Destiny's Child. Of the six, Farrah Franklin is the one with the shortest tenure, having served in the then-quartet for only six months. Since then, Farrah hasn't made many musical waves (though she has made headlines for different reasons), but she returns to the scene now with her new single "Magic N Makeup."

The song, a self-reflective ballad, finds Farrah musing over who the public sees versus who the songstress really is. Backing her is a piano-driven arrangement that incorporates strings and a few added touches to drive home her emotional message. However, while the song's sentiment is definitely a heartfelt and personal one and this single is a decent effort, it does little to announce Farrah as an artist to watch for. For one, the song's mix is just a bit off, leaving her vocals sounding a little lost amidst the production. Secondly, the subject matter isn't anything groundbreaking, with the lyrics delving a bit too deeply in cliché to be lasting and meaningful.

But perhaps we're being a bit too harsh on the singer. You can take a listen to "Magic N Makeup" right here and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
