Kendrick Lamar continued the winning streak of To Pimp A Butterfly by shutting down Stephen Colbert’s new stage last night. Just last December he blessed Colbert's final episode of The Colbert Report with an unreleased gem and now he's back for more on The Late Show. With key players like Bilal, Anna Wise and Thundercat in tow again, King Kendrick launched into a theatrical medley of powerful songs from the album including “Wesley’s Theory,” “Momma,” “King Kunta" and “U.” The Compton bred rapper made it clear once again that not only can he put together a classic album, but he can also bring it to life live on stage in a way that many of his hip hop comrades cannot. Every piece of this performance was well thought out and orchestrated. If Kendrick plans a tour and brings this band along, please believe that we will be in attendance when he touches down in our city, and you should plan to do the same.
