In about a week, soulful singer Kwabs will deliver his debut album Love + War. With a pocket full of tracks ready for us to listen to, he's giving us a throwback if you will with an updated version of his three-year-old single "Lay Back." One of the first songs he ever wrote before his record deal, the new version with an updated spelling, "Layback" was produced by Dave Okumu and gets an electro soul treatment that still showcases Kwabs' raw vocals. Okumu dusted the single off and created a more upbeat listen with the perfect instrumentals and fresh sound to match the vibe of his new album. The minute you press play, the keys take control of your ears and Kwabs starts singing, "Sing me a song / Lend me a rhyme / Pass the time of day / Make me a truth / Play with my mind."
The British singer has been on the road, promoting his upcoming release making his way around a number of European festivals. His live performances are worth attending, so find out if he'll be in a city near you on Kwabsmusic.com. If you want to hear more from Kwabs before his September 11th release, you can check out his SoundCloud and pre-order Love + War on iTunes now.
