Why simply make a debut when you can make a statement? That seems to be the M.O. for South London-based Miles From Kinshasa. The newcomer makes quite the statement with his debut single, "IVRY." The song is a dark, synth-laden jam steeped in cool. As the electronic sounds swirl around to form a perfect groove, Miles From Kinshasa's distorted vocal, layered backing harmonies and the addition of a rhythm guitar line that arrives at the perfect time give the track an undeniable '80s vibe while still keeping it current.

For the song's video, the singer looked to his childhood spent in the suburbs of Paris and the 1995 film La Haine for inspiration. MFK dons a red balaclava (commonly known as a ski mask) and a Members Only jacket as he strolls down a mostly empty, car-lined street. The clip picks up on the seedier side of the track, especially with its grainy, VHS-like filter, as the singer appears menacing while he glares and bops down the avenue. For added measure, quick cuts of him playing dangerously with a blade are dispersed throughout the clip before getting a full-on montage at video's end along with a new song that also seems to have an electronic, '80s throwback sound.

Though this might be Miles From Kinshasa's first time at the rodeo, we're positive that it won't be his last — and based on what we've heard and seen, we'll happily wait to hear more. Take a listen to "IVRY" below and then get an eyeful of the video.
