Manchester outfit, MDNGHT, proved their chops as a not-your average pop-dance group with their disco-tinged house sound on their 2013 EP, Into The Night. Currently working on their follow-up project, the band decided to give their fans a treat by covering Michael Jackson’s No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 hit, “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough.” And boy, what a treat it is!

MDNGHT brings the classic MJ cut to life through brilliant live instrumentation — and a little pre-recorded digital diggery-do , but we aren’t complaining. The crystal clear production is so amazing, it feels as if you’re truly hearing the song for the first time. Lead vocalist Jordan Lewis doesn’t slouch in the vocals department either. While singing in a slightly higher register than MJ, Lewis pretty much nails the vocals and captures all the nuances of the old school disco tune.

The big question with most covers is whether the artist or artists make the song their own or just perform a pale man’s imitation. MDNGHT conquers both schools of thought, staying true to the original song, but paying homage through skillful production and vocal prowess. When most electro-pop/EDM groups can’t think outside the box of 8-bit sounds and Casio Watch production, MDNGHT steps out of their wheelhouse to pull off an amazing interpretation of a Michael Jackson classic.
