Since her eponymous recording debut just over 20 years ago, Brandy has retained a place in our hearts thanks to a multi-faceted career. Whether slaying us with her remarkable vocals or engaging us with her television personas, Ms. Norwood has always kept things interesting and fans have remained loyal and continued to show love through the highs and lows of the past two decades. With awards and accolades aplenty, not to mention the respect and admiration of her peers, the "Vocal Bible" could easily coast on the merits of her past achievements. But her humble spirit, undeniable talent and incredible work ethic have opened new doors and turned 2015 into a groundbreaking year.
Brandy is clearly on a mission to grow her brand and we can't help but admire her hustle. After wrapping her stint as Chardonnay Pitts on the final season of The Game, she made her Broadway debut this past spring, taking on the timeless role of Roxie Hart in Chicago. She did so well, that they extended her run for an additional six weeks. She also has a popular lifestyle blog, a heavy social media following, new music and a book in the works. But her latest gig is what really has people talking.
January 2016 will usher in Brandy's return to television in her first leading role since Moesha. Set to air on BET, Zoe Ever After will see Brandy wearing dual hats as the series' star and executive producer. The show centers on Zoe Moon (Brandy), a divorced woman and single mom striving to step out of the shadow of her famous boxer ex-husband Gemini Moon (played by Dorian Missick) while balancing dating, motherhood, a complicated relationship with her ex and finally fulfilling her career dream of starting a cosmetics line. At first glance, it seems like a tired premise with formulaic characters and scenarios that have been done to death. But we're so excited to see Brandy front-and-center again, there's no doubt we'll be tuning in. Plus, we have faith that in Brandy's capable hands, he can turn it into something great. Check out the preview below and let us know what you think of Zoe Ever After.
