Tamar Braxton Gets Her Samba On During 'Dancing With The Stars'

It's about time they switched things up a little on Dancing With the Stars. On last night's show, our favorite dancing songstress Tamar Braxton had to trade in her faithful partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy. This week she got Paula Deen's dance mate Louis Van Amstel for the show's Switch Up episode. The duo did the Samba to none other than Beyoncé's "End of Time," the perfect pick for a dance that requires quick footwork. Starting the performance without her partner, Tamar played drum majorette with two other dancers and sauntered on the dance floor ready to unleash her glittery magic. Once Louis joined her, all bets were off as our eyes stayed glued to their feet while they performed the Afro-Brazilian dance. Tamar and Louis had the longest song of the night, and their dance was full of complex steps and graceful arm movements, which explains why some moves didn't translate as well during the execution. Despite minor mistakes, the dancing duo still held their own and captivated the audience's attention, especially at the end when Tamar performed a serious leg lift and ended in Louis' arms.

At this point we're pretty used to watching The Real host with partner Val, and we could tell Tamar was missing him this week. Tamar and Louis' chemistry was a little off base and the judges described it as such, but, of course, it was their first time pairing together and also performing a pretty difficult dance. Tamar, however, still received top marks for doing what she does best -- owning the stage -- and her partner Val gave her the most enthusiastic applause to show his support. Watch last night's DWTS performance right here and let us know if Tamar and her temporary partner Louis hit the mark or missed it.
