The fellas of Tuxedo are not only fans of funk, but they're Christmas aficionados, too. For the second year in a row, the dapper duo of Mayer Hawthorne and Jake One have decided to drop a Christmas song. After releasing a cover of Paul McCartney's "Wonderful Christmastime" last year, Mayer and Jake present something original this year with the cheeky song "Holiday Love" complete with a cheesy music video.
Keeping in line with the funky throwback grooves that laced their self-titled debut album, Tuxedo craft a Yuletide love jam perfect for your "Songs For Bae" playlist. On "Holiday Love," bae is about to get that holiday work and have a not-so-silent night. Mayer sounds smoother than top shelf cognac while Jake occasionally interjects with some vocoder effects. The song drips with mid-'80s R&B synths, but it's the music video that takes you straight back in the day. Mayer and Jake are suited up as they both share some quality time with their lady friends over wine by the fireplace, at dinner or in a hot tub. The clip doesn't take itself too seriously thanks to the romantic scenes busted up by comedic scenarios with everyone looking like they're in on the joke.
Get your groove and chuckle on with "Holiday Love," and have a body roll ready when you press play.
