There are several factors that contribute to a successful music career. Obviously, talent plays a major part, but when it comes to longevity, an artist's versatility certainly tips the odds in their favor. So it comes as no surprise that Regina Belle, a GRAMMY-winning artist who has topped the charts in pop, R&B, jazz and gospel music, is nearing the 30th anniversary of her solo recording debut. What makes this accomplishment even more noteworthy, however, is that her career was almost cut short after two brain surgeries (to remove a benign brain tumor) left her clinically deaf in one ear.

Thankfully, Ms. Belle is a survivor and was eventually able to make a full recovery. As a follow-up to her 2012 gospel recording HIGHER, she recently announced the impending arrival of her latest project, The Day Life Began. With production by The Heavyweights, the album marks her awaited return to R&B after a 15-year absence. In anticipation of the album release, she is blessing us with a heart-warming preview of a personal tune, "Be Careful Out There." Along the same vein of fan-favorite "If I Could," the song speaks of parenthood, strong family values and being able to remain true to yourself as you leave the supportive shelter called home. Her powerful voice shines and soars over an acoustic guitar and rhythmic finger snaps.

While she's returned to R&B, gospel is still very close to her heart. Fans will have the opportunity praise and worship with Ms. Belle when she and Kirk Whalum act as official hosts of The Gospel Music Cruise next March. The cruise boasts an incredible roster of artists, including Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Shirley Caesar, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribbett, Marvin Sapp, Take 6 and Rudy Currence. Take a listen to Regina's R&B homecoming below. In addition to completing her new album, the singer also completed her degree (which she put on hold 30 years ago to pursue her music career) this past May. We applaud her determination and look forward to hearing more from The Day Life Began when it drops on January 22nd.
