As we prepare to wrap up and put a bow on 2015, we can't help but recall the great new artists that we've come to enjoy this year. Houston-based ensemble Six Minutes 'til Sunrise fits neatly into this category as we've been digging them since we first heard their maxi-single The Dawning back in May. Featuring smooth harmonies and chilled rhythms, the impressive teaser got us primed and ready for more hotness from the R&B trio. Thankfully, Tanika Keys, Ron John and Shawn Taylor have delivered a little something for the holidays with Merry Christmas: A Gift from VI.
The seasonal project includes two original tracks and a jazzy cover of a Christmas classic. "Snowflakes" is a mellow ballad with fluid harmonies, festive synth and catchy finger snaps. Meanwhile, "Merry Christmas Darlin'" is a festive slow jam that will have you body-rolling and chuckling ("I asked for 10 carats, then yo' ass went to Jared's."). And their incredible rendition of Vince Guaraldi Trio's "Christmas Time Is Here" will give you chills.
